Certified Drainlayer – Masterton

This permanent, full-time position is essential for ensuring the effective installation and maintenance of drainage systems, contributing to the overall success of our building and construction projects. The ideal candidate will possess the necessary skills and experience to uphold our commitment to quality and safety in all aspects of drainage work.

As part of this role, you would be required to (but not limited to):

– Install, maintain, and repair stormwater and wastewater systems on residential, commercial and civil sites complying with project specifications and NZ building code while ensuring that Health & Safety standards are met

– Read and interpret site plans, drainage drawings, and specifications.

– Set out pipe levels and gradients using lasers and other tools.

– Excavate trenches and lay PVC and concrete pipes in line with NZBC and council requirements.

– Connect drainage systems to council mains or on-site disposal systems.

– Conduct pressure and water tests to ensure drainage integrity.

– Accurately complete job documentation, such as as-built plans and inspection reports.

– Communicate effectively with builders, site supervisors, project managers, Contract Managers and anyone who visits site.

– Operate machinery such as excavators and compactors safely and efficiently (WTR endorsement a plus)

In addition you will:

– Hold current registration and a practicing license with the Plumbers, Gasfitters and Drainlayers Board (PGDB). A minimum of 2 years’ post-registration experience is preferred.

– Have a strong understanding of NZ drainage regulations and council consent processes.

– Have knowledge and understanding of roading, footpath, kerb and channel works

– Hold a Full NZ Driver’s Licence (Class 1 required, Class 2 preferred).

– Have experience with CCTV pipe inspections and hydro-jetting equipment is a plus.

– Be physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.

– Have excellent time management and problem-solving skills.

– Have the ability to work independently and as part of a crew

– Be drug free and undertake pre-employment screening
