Our People and Our Community

People are at the heart of all we do
To continue the development of local people and youth, PCL started its College Programme in 2019, when we took on our first school leaver from Viard College.
The programme goal is to provide a young person with opportunity, training and support to develop the skills and knowledge within the industry and we aim to work closely with the local schools to identify our next suitable candidate each year.
As a company we continually look for opportunity to involve local people in our business to help better the community we are a part of. PCL people pride themselves on working with local community projects which have included volunteering to asphalting our local Pauatahanui Church car park to investing resources in rural areas of Porirua for civil emergency relief.
Recently we took the opportunity to invest back into six Eastern Porirua Primary Schools by gifting child size bikes (with helmets) to these local schools. Many of our staff have children attending these schools and it is a way of PCL acknowledging our staff families and making them feel proud to belong to our PCL whanau.
We hold an annual mid winter event where we acknowledge our employees and all they’ve done during the year and engage a motivational guest speaker. Some of our guest speakers have included the likes of Graham Henry, Nathan Wallis, Wiremu Edmonds, Mike King and David Galbraith.
