Our Commitment to Health and Safety Standards

PCL invests in the continual improvement of health and safety across the company. Our comprehensive Management Systems aligns with AS/NZS 4801:2001 and provides wide-ranging health and safety systems and processes to ensure we continually support and encourage our staff in making the right decisions for others and their own health and safety. We hold ISO 45001 and Tokita category 2 with the goal to continually improve, not just in health and safety, but all areas within the business – because we believe that better never stops.

Commitments to Safety: PCL's Action Plan

In meeting our commitments PCL Contracting Ltd will:

Ensure all staff are aware of the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 and trained appropriately.

Induct staff prior to employment including a full briefing of company health and safety requirements.

Undertake site assessments prior to the commencement of works on site and conduct daily Toolbox meetings.

Provide all necessary Personal Protective Equipment to workers and adhere to additional requirements as set out in the specifications.

Actively promote hazard identification and risk assessment on all work sites and for all work activities.

Implement a Health and Safety site auditing process.

Promoting Safety Culture: Incident Reporting and Investigation Protocols

PCL Contracting Ltd requires that all incidents must be reported to allow for continual improvement and prevention of future incidents. We promote a Just Culture within the organisations which is essential for fostering an environment where safety is a shared responsibility, and employees feel empowered to prioritise it, report, and act. We require all incidents, near misses and injuries to be reported allowing for a joint effort in a solution.
 
All information available on an event is logged and investigated with casual factors considered and corrective actions applied. Report data forms the basis for the continued development of our safe operating procedures with employee engagement part of the solution.

Fostering Safety Culture: Monthly Management Reviews and Bi-Monthly Employee Meetings

Trends and outcomes are discussed at monthly management meetings and relayed to all employees at bi-monthly health and safety meetings.
