  • Training

Developing our people is important. We understand that without personal and professional growth, people become disengaged and our training programme provides opportunities for people to develop their skills and knowledge. Everyone receives appropriate training in First Aid, Constructsafe, Confined Spaces and many more. We want to help people succeed and our training provides new employees – regardless of their experience – the opportunity to progress and develop within the company, allowing us to promote from within.
We use the services of NZIHT, Connexis and Te Pukenga to provide employees with long term training in areas such as engineering, drainage, project Management and Infrastructure. We see he continued investment of our people critical to ensure they feel valued and a sense of belonging to the PCL whanau.

    Wellbeing

We want to know that when our people come to work, they are happy and healthy, which is why we invest in their mental and physical wellbeing. They say that time is the hardest thing to give a person but time is not an issue at PCL Contracting as the first pillar of our culture – communication – ensures that time is given regularly to all employees by our leadership team and Norm, the keeper of our culture. This means that employees have a chance to raise any issues, discuss their future prospects, get feedback on their work, share their ideas – or just have a general discussion. Our Employee Assistance Programme is offered free of charge to all staff and their families as a counselling service to help when needed. The work we do is physical and demanding and to help ensure those body niggles are taken care of quickly, we use the services of selected physio providers that provide long term support rather than a quick fix. We always go above and beyond for our people – they are our most important asset and we do our utmost to support them.
